Found at campground just a little higher than the valley floor, where it should not occur.
The only thing it can be is Ligusticum tenuifolium.
Yes, it had the "hairs" at the base of the stem (fibrous petiole remnants).
There's so much more to research in the plant world.

Science is currently deciphering whale language, once we learn enough of it the first words out of our mouths should be something along the lines of; "we're sorry".

Fascinating bit of physics in my #trailrunning this morning ๐
Turn up the sound on this clip, and you will hear the neatest frequency increase as I run across the lake. Not sure why this is happening, the ice thickness is likely uniform, perhaps changes in the snow thickness/density. #science

A lovely find today with @geologyjohnson.bsky.social at Robin Hoods Bay.
Lots going on here in this Staithes sandstone including: scallop, oyster, and a cute little crinoid ossicle ๐คฉ

Three Trumpeter Swans swim together on a cold winter river in Alberta.

An immature Glaucous Gull stands on edge ice alongside a goldeneye carcass.
This winter, we are seeing a few #birds that are overwintering in greater numbers in the #YYC region/northern great plains. I think it is a trend that we will see in the years to come.
