Apparently something about my post triggered you? I was asking an honest question and did not expect to be quoted in an aggressive manner. Maybe you misunderstood the post - also why the "THE Ogden"? No need for the hostility.

I genuinely do not understand how a state political party (always the one with the majority?) can just “decide” to redistrict the state to improve their chances of holding the majority.

My latest: Polar scientists warn that the White House and NSF are planning to terminate the Nathaniel Palmer, the only US research icebreaker capable of handling Antarctic extremes, this October.

So far the plan has seen minimal pushback from Congress.

It’s going to be tough for you NIH watchers to explain this multi-year funding surprise to your circles. I suggest we need to try. It’s ultimately a ploy to make a decrease in NIH funding more politically palatable.

The difference between a 4th and 20th percentile is basically meaningless.

The difference between 4th and 5th percentile is meaningless hair’s-breadth random fluctuation.

Proposals in that range at NCI are invariably exceptional, with immense potential health impact. Americans generally don’t understand the staggering level of effort and intellectual achievement here.

I don't think we say this enough, #chatgpt hallucinates and lies very confidently. It is a bad look when you take whatever it spits out as truth and do not bother to verify. It comes across to an editor as extremely careless and not caring enough about the work you are submitting for publication.
