When the vote happened in 2024, the Government had only been in office for two weeks and didn’t have the £3 billion needed to end the cap responsibly. The choices we’ve made since then mean we can now scrap it permanently in a fully costed way

Two‑child benefit cap scrapped!

✅ From April 2026, families will get Universal Credit & Child Tax Credits for every child, not just two.
✅ 95,000 children lifted out of poverty in Scotland.
⛔ Ends the appalling “rape clause.”

Last week, I joined the Farm Retail Association’s drop-in in Parliament to highlight the vital role farm shops & farmers markets play in our communities. Stirling & Strathallan has fantastic local producers supporting jobs & boosting our economy. 🛒 🌱

Last week, I met Jonathan from FareShare in Parliament.
FareShare redistributes surplus food to communities across the UK and works with amazing partners in Stirling & Strathallan, like Start Up Stirling, and The Larder in Corton.
We discussed their work tackling food waste and supporting families.

🌿 Last week I joined the HTA for their “Plants in Parliament” event 🌱 Horticulture could be worth £40bn by 2030, supporting jobs, rural economies, health & our environment. Great to discuss how we can champion this vital sector and help it grow!

We discussed a range of topics from the UK Deposit Return Scheme, hydration and public health, to how they are benefiting local communities.

On Wednesday, I attended Sainsbury’s Parliamentary Reception to hear about their plans for making food accessible and affordable, supporting charity partners, and working with farmers🛒
We also discussed their approach to sustainability and value for customers as we get to the festive season🎄

I was honoured to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in Stirling on Sunday. It was an important moment to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the service of their country.

Thank you to all those who came out to pay tribute across our communities.

We will remember them.

Today, we pause to remember.
Across Stirling & Strathallan and the UK, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve in our armed forces. Their legacy lives on in our freedoms, our communities, and our shared commitment to peace.
