Yesterday, the United Kingdom, alongside Canada and Australia, recognised the state of Palestine.

Recognition is an essential step in the process towards a two-state solution.

What must follow now is an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and urgent aid getting into Gaza.

Chris secures breakthrough for Balquhidder broadband volunteers - Chris Kane MP | Stirling and Strathallan Chris has welcomed confirmation that long‑awaited Government broadband vouchers have finally been approved for Balquhidder Community Broadband, following more than a year of delays.

After over a year of delays, I’m delighted UK Government broadband vouchers have finally been approved for Balquhidder Community Broadband. Local volunteers built 34km of fibre themselves, years ahead of providers, and now they’ll get the funding they were promised.

Chris Calls for Action as Alloa Campus Closure Considered - Chris Kane MP | Stirling and Strathallan Chris has expressed serious concern following the announcement that Forth Valley College’s Alloa campus could face closure as part of drastic cuts.

I share the deep concern over Forth Valley College’s plans that could see the Alloa campus close. This is the result of years of underfunding, and it puts opportunities for students and communities at risk. The Scottish Government must step in to support.

Scottish Government Could Learn Lessons from UK Audit Report on Major Infrastructure Projects - Chris Kane MP | Stirling and Strathallan Chris has called for stronger governance and accountability across government major projects, warning that past failures cannot be repeated.

I welcome the Public Accounts Committee’s call for stronger governance of major projects; both the UK and Scottish Governments must learn lessons to avoid repeating past mistakes.

Proposed Visitor Levy ‘Must benefit local communities’ - Chris Kane MP | Stirling and Strathallan Chris is encouraging local people to contribute to an ongoing consultation on a proposed Visitor Levy, which could be used to help develop local projects.

⛱️The proposal by Stirling Council to introduce a 5% visitor levy is, in principle, a good idea, which can provide a funding stream to Stirling’s already world-class tourism.
But we have to ensure that a proportion of the levy is used to support community priorities.
