Scientific organizations (or any really): please be aware that if you host international conferences in the US, you will be excluding quite a few people from this point on, for whom the risk is just not worth it.

You can add "Molecular orbital theory is a model and oversimplification of multi-electron systems that also has no reality (but, to be fair, it is a damn good model)"
Chemistry is full of constructs with no physical reality that help us understand molecules really well. Thatβ€˜s what I love about it.

New issue of @gdch.de Nachrichten aus der Chemie with focus on EDI and mental health challenges. Being in chemistry is more than just *doing* chemistry, so it's very nice to see all of these aspects in the spotlight, particularly these days!

A big shout out to @cwpstr.bsky.social for this great article in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social. Mental health is something we talk way too little about in academia. I especially like how this article addresses the MH of academics themselves, as this is often overlooked. Must read!

This is really important. Do NOT use the AI summaries at the top of google searches. Ignore them. This is especially important if you don't have any prior knowledge about the topic, but also a good general rule.

Search sources, scrutinize them carefully and double-check with other sources.

My main concern with ascribing DMS to 'life' is that there are many ways it could be easily made abiotically in plausible exoplanet atmospheric conditions (ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2024ApJ....).
However, interrogating the data from the paper, it appears even its basic presence is far from proven.
