It's time to remove laptops from classrooms.

24 experiments: Students learn more and get better grades after taking notes by hand than typing. It's not just because they're less distractedβ€”writing enables deeper processing and more images.

The pen is mightier than the keyboard.

McDonald's is losing its low-income customers. Economists call it a symptom of the stark wealth divide These customers are feeling the pressures of higher prices on groceries and apparel and the growing cost of rent and child care, the company's chief executive said in a recent earnings call.

McDonald’s prices are so high that low-income visits dropped double digits. Delta’s cheap seats are down 5% but luxury seats are up. Budget hotels are losing revenue while high-end hotels climb. And the corporate response? Serve the rich and screw everyone else.

WH claims 'inflation tamed,' per DoorDash stats. Company says that's not in its report. It comes the same week we learned the WH would likely not release key economic reports for October.

NEW β€” I spoke to DoorDash about the White House claiming the company's report shows "inflation has been tamed" and whether that's an interpretation one should make. An economist also weighed in, pointing out dictatorships use data obfuscation as a tool, and right now they're "grasping at straws."

Trump is demanding that GOP side with him over Epstein's victims, Rep Ansari tells me. She had a harrowing exchange with one victim who recounts how her mom had cancer and he exploited that.

Also note her mockery of network disclaimers on Trump. More like this, Ds:

But the whole point of private equity is to eat every business alive. It always has been. Acquire. Strip for parts. Debt load. Move on. That's the xenomorph, folks. That's what it does. That's all it does.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

So, what if you can’t afford to from that LL Bean jacket?

Are you SOL while you deal with H&M junk three times over

And, should we measure prosperity off of that LL Bean jacket or the H&M one?

09.11.2025 18:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Fwiw, I agree with Stancil’s long standing premise that its all affect rather than the actual economic conditions.

But, again, if all the cheap shit you buy breaks constantly, it’s not going to seem very prosperous when you need to replace your can opener three times a year.

09.11.2025 18:27 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t exactly know who you’re arguing with but my point was more about using the cheap goods as a measurement of prosperity.

The β€œsweatshop” was an ad lib, but if you’re buying junk that breaks after one use, it’s not the same as buying products that last, even if they are technically β€œcheaper.”

Siri, is making clothing in foreign sweatshops and shipping them to be sold cheaply in the U.S. really prosperity?

OpenAI faces 7 lawsuits claiming ChatGPT drove people to suicide, delusions OpenAI is facing seven lawsuits claiming ChatGPT drove people to suicide and harmful delusions even when they had no prior mental health issues.

Six people died from tampered Tylenol and the company pulled 30 million bottles off the market. ChatGPT is accused of urging seven people towards suicide, and OpenAI just assures us they’re still working out the kinks. Billions in investment, zero accountability.
