Business as usual from the centrist Democratic Party is no longer acceptable. We need an activist party who will not stand by and condemn by press conference and bumper sticker press releases. We need bold action. America is demanding it! Dems, please, put on your gloves and fight. #NoKings

Folks, this just makes me SO angry. If it does you too, VOTE! There’s no guarantee that our right to vote won’t be usurped by this authoritarian regime, but it’s the best chance we have to keep this from being the new normal. Please, for the love of our fragile democracy, don’t sit this one out.

#NoKings was an amazing show of resistance to tyranny and in favor of democracy but it will all be for naught if we don’t get out and VOTE!!!

I wonder if ICE agents could be charged with obstruction of justice in such situations. Since SCOTUS ruled that deporting these suspects without due process is unconstitutional, ICE officials are acting outside the scope of their authority by intentionally interfering with criminal proceedings.

Another quick gratitude post: a simple gift of wine and cookies from a patient reminds me of how powerful the doctor-patient relationship can be. We often take for granted the profound impact our words and actions can have on patients in their moments of vulnerability.

…not only what we do know but also what we do not.

When we get frustrated with how busy we are, with how inappropriate a referral might be, with how late our patient has arrived, remember that until we walk in their shoes, we know very little about them and their journey to that appointment. Don’t forget to take a moment and reflect on…

…what our patients have to go through to see us. Our 10, 15, 30 minutes with them might have required several hours of preparation. Often they have to wait days, or even weeks, in pain or anxiety, anxious to meet with their doctor.

As I was leaving the medical center today after a busy day of seeing patients, I was pulling out of the parking lot and saw one of my last patients of the day, a teen with a fractured hand, and his mom, waiting at the bus stop across the street to head home. In our busy days, it’s easy to forget…
