Book Review: ‘Everything Is Tuberculosis,’ by John Green In a new nonfiction book, the Y.A. novelist describes the disease as a window into “the folly and brilliance and cruelty and compassion of humans.”

New review of "Everything Is Tuberculosis" in the @nytimes.com, which calls the book "earnest and empathetic," which is really all I wanted it to be. (And also all I want to be.) www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/b...

It’s the world’s most deadly infectious disease. But it strikes the world’s most downtrodden and neglected, including here at home. So we turn our eyes.

Not you, @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social. You’ve made the story of TB personal. And your vivid, moving, vital book makes us grateful you did.

Out now in @thelancetinfdis.bsky.social our study demonstrates that the MVA-BN (Imvanex/Jynneos) vaccine is safe & effective against mpox, but a single dose does not sufficiently protect people living with #HIV.

Love it! Time to move beyond SNP clustering = transmission. Although important to not forget host infectiousness, exposure time and contact susceptibility in the equation next to pathogen genomes

Friendly reminder that tuberculosis isn’t an “1800s disease” and is in fact THE infectious disease that kills the most people in the 21st century. It is preventable, treatable, and curable, and yet it still kills over 1.2 million people a year because we don’t put the resources where the disease is.

Big Change in TB treatment recommendations. 6 months of RIPE (also called RHEZ) was once the only treatment in town for susceptible TB. Now there's an all oral FOUR months of:
Rifapentine
INH
PZA
Moxifloxacin

Yes, transmission is challenging to quantify both through epi-links (recall) and these packages, good to see how these methods are improved. Thanks for your work in this area
