MC happens to be reborn in the weaker country losing in the war. ML is disguised as a princess and still 15 while MC is 25, so there's nothing romantic between them yet. It also surprised me MC figured out the prince was crossdressing quite early and knew it wasn't his place to say anything

I just don't like when villain transmigrations flip the script and turn OG!MCs into villains. It makes it no different from the OG story? Not to mention they also pulled the stupid "Actually the transmigrator IS the OG character's soul" twist. Really, what was the point of transmigration in this?

Moreover, this is NOT a regression but a transmigration! The appeal of transmigration is about having a modern outsider grapple with the foreign world, but it's like the modern narrator is completely usurped by the OG character's mental state. MC is the novel's AUTHOR too

I flipped to the end hoping to see MC's "belief" due to his trauma would be "proven false", but no it seems OG!MC and ML end up as actually bad people who get punished, so I dropped it. I find it difficult to root for that kind of MC, and it seems he won't have much growth throughout

I read 4 chs of Romance Revived (JBL novel) and had to DNF cause the MC was so insufferable. He was reincarnated as the villain's henchman who was killed by OG!MC & ML, so he hates on them and constantly insults them in his narration, but neither had done anything in the new timeline at that point?

So it IS a 174 spinoff lol. Apparently the MC has appeared in 174 but only very briefly. Now I have to keep an eye out for him

12. Who Can Define Popularity? - Charming romcom surrounding themes of appearance and self-worth. The whole cast is compelling and developed (Also, not one but TWO GL side couples??) but I do feel like certain supporting character storylines didn't fit the main theme as much

Towei's 兩個王子 is just a short story but left me needing more flirty and kinda silly but still handsome tops like Phillip. I don't even care if there's magical transition 😭

11. My Starry Sky - Now THIS is the best of remorseful top BL. Both MCs are just kids trapped in a tragic situation due to horrible adults. The pacing is fantastic, not overly drawn out yet leaves enough room for natural character progression. The art seems rough at first but drastically improves.

10. Punch Drunk Love - Hilarious, sweet, and horny romcom. I do think MC comes off a bit too perfect later on but also this romcom wouldn't work without his one-of-a-kind personality loll

I would say there are as many parents that are okay but arent shown, but I do think she intentionally tries to make a point that mothers can be abusive like fathers 😆

I think the only work I recall that has good mothers is My Funeral and Drusa 😂

My BL manhwa rereads are really shaking up my favourite rankings lol. I feel bad for Count Tachibana cause it was kicked off my top 5 😔 I love it but I love its ideas more than the characters or romantic relationships

9. Banana Scandal S2&3 - The best of remorseful top manhwa. I think it's so successful because Taehwan's thoughts and actions are justified in depth (i wouldn't even consider him a red flag tbh) AND Yeonwoo has plenty of growing to do himself as well

8. All About Lust - Man this is fantastic. A genuine romcom and a riot but also very cohesive and grounded. My boy JJ is more relevant than I remembered. The art is so dynamic but sadly gets underrated cause it's cartoonish

Chiang Liu's choices of simile/metaphors are freaking weird

Even though I hate TLing it and even though one of the NU reviews say they skip the smut, please don't skip them. Many important character moments happen during them loll

I have the most trouble with smut scenes in this novel so they usually get TLed last 😅 So long-winded and many descriptions of actions
