miyaka and kenji have had pretty inconsistent references (with the exception of og miyaka...), so i'm glad to get one more ref image in before the end of 2025, and feel happy whenever i see it. blorbos of over a decade will do that to you

not really sure if i can trace the proportions / style changes back to anything i've seen in recent months, but i have a habit of stretching out characters vertically and horizontally for proportions as the seasons change... we're seeing the former for winter, ahah

looseness and fluidity get lost when i do lineart, so i guess that's the price i pay for cleanliness and easy-fill areas. i'm a lot happier this time around for catching some of my proportion mistakes early on and correcting them before it was too late to do so during my july attempt

in my "irreverence towards lineart" phase, so cleaned up a sketch-lines layer until i was satisfied. had to pay the price of some actual color refs (shaded over some areas with red), but it is what it is

the punchline of this post is that miyaka and kenji completely changed artstyle genres within 5 months that i felt compelled enough to attempt a (albeit looser) redo... shoutout nonetheless to my older reference sheet from July.
