I stood at the kitchen sink yesterday, imagined mothers day in an alternate universe. just for a second. my mother was still alive. we went thrifting, bought fountain cokes. talked about gardens, maybe. I don't know. the president was not the president, the world was not upside down. anyway

in other news, my 20-something daughter taught a zine workshop yesterday at the library where she works and my gen X heart nearly burst right out of my body

am at a super 8 in indiana that smells like microwave chinese food and lucky strikes. lights in motel room are not exactly lights but something else. something fluorescent, something dead. eye twitch inevitable

listen I will probably share things here that have nothing to do with the unraveling of this country- not because I'm *not* enraged but *because* I’m enraged-in order to stay fully awake, to sustain anger/action, to ride the waves of exhaustion, frequent breaks for comedy/joy/wonder are fundamental

they really took it and turned it into trash. the enshittification is real

I must admit it's nice to start someplace brand new! as much as I miss the old days (of blogging/instagram), I'm realizing that I'm a *completely* different artist, with a completely different voice. starting new gives that real oxygen (though it leaves me wondering what to do with archives???)

in other news, kendrick is all over all my timelines and it is giving me liiiiiiiiiiiife

anybody else jumpin back and forth between platforms? it's madness. the plan is to fully leave IG behind but am finding it a little trickier to extricate myself after 14 years of working to carve out community there

in terms of sharing images here, I think the disconnect is that it feels like twitter-- and I loved twitter (when it was good) but it was a place I shared words, not images. I'm not sure images really live well here (still on the fence about it)

yeah I didn't either but unfortunately, a chunk of america did (and enough fellow genX folks did too, which is craaaazy troubling)

the cybertruck always looks a little bit like someone got really excited and decided to make a sci-fi inspired parade float
