Our members have voted to support industrial action to fight against job cuts passed today!

In the ballot our 72% of members were in favour of strike action, and 90% in favour of action short of strike. Turnout was 58%.

Thank you to all members, reps and officials for helping us get the vote out.

Our members have been receiving their ballots to vote on industrial action to save jobs at the University of Dundee.

It’s as easy as putting a cross in two boxes and then sending back in the prepaid envelope.

For many years I volunteered as a remote reader for a literary prize dedicated to emerging women writers called #FemminilePlurale. The prize comes alive every year thanks to the work of a small group of dedicated women and a community of avid readers. Such a pleasure to finally meet them in person!

Three biscuit salami chopped into 1cm wide individual biscuits on parcel paper.

Bake the salami in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (if vented) for 20 minutes. Cut the salami while still warm and let them cool down. The biscuits will harden as they cool. This recipe makes ~150 biscuits - trust me, you won’t regret not scaling it down! 🤤

You should have a sticky and nutty dough. Take it out in large scoops and roll it in flour to form 5cm wide, 1cm tall salamis. How much flour to add depends on how hard you like your biscuits. There are generations long diatribes on this single issue, you’ll know what works only by trial & error 😅

Add 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, 1g of vanillin (must be pure - I use the one from Paneangeli) and 16g of raising agent (disodium diphosphate and sodium bicarbonate) mixed in 500g of flour.

Mix everything together with a wooden spoon - you’ll need a strong spoon and strong arm 💪 - I tend to borrow my husband’s 😜

Add the mix to a large bowl containing 500g of roughly chopped almonds, 500g of chopped hazelnuts, 300g of pine nuts and 500g of dark chocolate cut into small chunks.

Whisk together 5 eggs, 800g of sugar, 100g of melted butter, 100mL of olive oil, 100mL of milk, 25 mL of Sambuca and the zest of a lemon and an orange
