Weekly Update #13: Covid But Showing Up Anyway This week wasn’t flashy, but it was meaningful. It started with COVID. After a few days of not feeling great, I tested and confirmed it. That knocked out the gym for a bit and forced me to slow down just as I’d been building momentum. Mentally, that’s always frustrating. But instead of spiraling, I tried to treat it like data: rest when needed, work when I could, and keep moving forward.

Weekly Update: Shipping Momentum, Hard Conversations, and Showing Up Anyway This past week felt like one of those stretches where everything seems to happen at once — progress, setbacks, stress, excitement — sometimes all within the same day. Big Wins (And They Really Are Big) The biggest milestone of the week is that Did I Do That? is officially submitted to the Apple App Store for review. 🎉That means the app is now live on Google Play…

Week 11: Shipping, Setbacks, and Finding Momentum Again This past week was a reminder that progress doesn’t always feel good while it’s happening — but it still counts. There were moments this week that felt heavy: family stress, loneliness creeping in at quiet hours, uncertainty around finances and job prospects, and the emotional toll of watching people I care about struggle. Some days started strong and faded by evening.

Week 10: Momentum, Shipping, and Learning to Ride the Swings A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next role. This past week reminded me of something important: Recovery isn’t linear — but progress is still progress, even when emotions swing wildly. Some days felt genuinely good. Some days felt heavy. And some days held both at the same time. But unlike earlier weeks, there’s been a noticeable shift: I’m building again.

Burnout Recovery, Week 9: From Survival Mode to Creative Momentum A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next chapter. This past week felt like a quiet turning point. Not because everything suddenly got easier — it didn’t — but because something important shifted. For the first time in a while, I wasn’t just coping with burnout. I was creating again. Building. Shipping. Sharing things with the world.

Inspiration Strikes At Weird Times I went to bed on Thursday night like any other night (perhaps a little later than normal after getting home kind of late from a local astronomical society meeting), but it was definitely not a normal night of sleep.  I slept great until about 2:30am when I had my usual mid-night wakeup to pee.  However, when I tried to go back to sleep, I couldn't.

Week 8: Quiet Progress, Holding Steady, and Learning to Be Okay with “Enough” A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next role. This past week didn’t feel dramatic. There were no huge breakthroughs or sweeping changes. Instead, it felt quiet — sometimes heavy, sometimes steady — and full of the kind of progress that’s easy to overlook if you’re only measuring productivity by output. And honestly? That feels like a pretty accurate snapshot of burnout recovery.

Finally Finished The Witcher 3 & DLCs Last night I finally got around to finishing the last of the Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC and while I originally wasn't huge on the game in my first attempt at a playthrough, after giving it a more honest attempt, it is easily one of my all time favorite games now! I'll admit, I haven't done much in terms of side quests and contracts so I've still got plenty I can do if I'm bored, but the main quests of the game and both the Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine DLCs have been completed.

Week 7: In Between What Was and What’s Next — and Shipping Something Real A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next role. This week didn’t come with a clean sense of momentum or a big emotional breakthrough. Instead, it lived in the middle — between what my life used to look like and what it’s slowly becoming. Some days felt heavy and unmoored. Others felt steady, if quiet. But woven through that uncertainty was something important:

I still need more Android testers for my mobile app! For those that may not have seen my last post, over the last few days, I created a new .NET MAUI mobile application and the Android version of it is officially ready for testing! I've made it easier to join the testers (I need 20 testers to install and use the app for at least 14 days to satisfy Google Play's policies and allow me to publish it to the Play Store) so that I no longer need to collect e-mail addresses to add people to the test, you just have to…

Week 5: Heavy Days, Hard Decisions, and Holding the Line A candid weekly look at navigating burnout, rebuilding, and finding my next role. This week didn’t move in a straight line — emotionally or practically. Dinner Time! Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya! For the first time in probably months, I felt like doing some actual cooking rather than go get take out.  I decided I'd make my amazing chicken and sausage jambalaya. Everybody that has tried it has raved about it and I will admit its definitely my favorite thing to make even if it takes longer to make than some things. For those who see this picture and want to try to make it for themselves, here is the recipe.

Upgrading My Twitch Streaming Setup I can't say I have done a ton of streaming on Twitch lately, mostly because its been just kind of an inconvenient experience, but that is about to change! I had an old Stream Deck I won as part of a contest that I never really got around to using, so I spent part of my morning getting it set up and ready to help make streaming more convenient so that I'm much more likely to want to stream.
