Stellarium graphic showing the Moon near Saturn, Mercury and Venus on the evening of 20 February 2026.
After sunset, around 18:00 UT on 20 February, it might be possible to spot the 11% lit #Moon in a line with Saturn, Mercury and Venus low in the west-southwest. This will be a tricky one too see due to the faintness and low height of the planets. The Moon should be a nice sight though. #Astronomy

Because my graphic shows the positions today, 19 February, from the UK. The picture (and this graphic) shows the positions yesterday (18 February, 18:00 UT) from Vicksburg, USA. Mercury is more or less in the same point in the sky. The Moon, being closer, shifts position with viewing point on Earth.

The 5.6% lit #Moon is close to Saturn this evening, 19 February. Look to the west-southwest around 18:00 UT and after the Sun has fully set. Mercury and Venus will also be nearby although a lot lower. A good photo opportunity if you have a good horizon. #Astronomy

17.02.2026 17:24 β π 15 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0A solar halo, often called a 22-degree halo, is a striking optical phenomenon that appears as a bright, circular ring around the Sun.
A solar halo is caused by millions of tiny, hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the upper atmosphere, usually within thin cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.
As sunlight passes through these crystals, it is "bent" or refracted at a specific angle, typically 22 degrees, creating the characteristic ring.
Because different colours of light bend at slightly different angles, the inner edge of the halo often has a reddish tint, while the outer edge appears bluish or white.
What a fantastic Solar Halo!
A very vivid ring around the Sun. Described in ALT
