Devs need support. I'm glad for orgs like Blacksky and Northsky that have managed to start early and get some significant work done with the momentum they created, but once again, unless the users finance it, it's a loss leader for whoever is tailoring and maintaining that infrastructure.

Tired of people lauding of The Potential of this protocol, because at the end of the day, if an average-skill laptop or smartphone user can't just click some buttons on a GUI and spin up a PDS or other necessary tools, then those features functionally do not exist for them. End users matter!

Not gonna sugarcoat it: if we want mass protocol adoption we're going to have to be able to develop turnkey, low-cost deployment solutions that anyone can throw up in a weekend.

Not everyone is a dev, folks, and ATproto has some serious issues with implementation at the moment.

Honestly I'm mostly just concerned about docs and deployment methodology overall. There are solutions that exist presently but the article touches on how a non-technical person is probably going to want a more in-depth guide, but I dunno activitypub's similar failures poisoned the water for me too
