I had to Google medlars - a fruit I haven't tried yet!!! Still so many things to live for 😅

The popcorn jellybelly flavor was already a crime against taste.

🤔 I wonder if eating these also gives you that hint of angina feeling eating actual KFC does (been years tho and I've since discovered I'm allergic to wheat so maybe that feeling was actually a mast cell response)

I have tried perfectly ripe drgaonfruit less than 2 days from picking (it grows in the southern part of Taiwan) and it's still mid. Durian, otoh, gets a bad rap but actually is kinda tasty?

Grapefruit juice is so weirdly good though. For me the worst fruits are dragonfruit or honeydew melon, both taste like disappointment.

Mainland police are putting pressue on Chinese delivery riders working overseas in Sydney, including targeting their parents still in the Mainland, warning them to stop protesting in Australia for better pay and work conditions or face arrests upon returning to China.

A very good speech: “We are fighting over whether we are going to be a civilization rooted in empathy and kindness—or one rooted in cruelty and rage. I love my country, I refuse to stop. The hope I have found in a very difficult year is that love is the light that gets you through a long night.”

By the way, this is causing a lot of anger in MAHA-land.

A lot.

This has been a core issue of theirs for 15-20 years.

"A middle finger to every MAHA mom" is exactly how they are reacting.

Why is HRT itself woefully understudied and underdeveloped? Because trans healthcare has largely been controlled by doctors who only care if you'll look fuckable to them by the end. WPATH can trace its origins to this too. We could be finding more methods and options for body expression but nah

important not to underestimate the visceral discomfort of this: having something personal and unique stolen, copied, and exploited for money.

I quite like the odd ball/rag tag group energy that changes season to season, and really appreciated that this interview gave us a BTS look into how they make that happen.

Page 1 of a child’s handwritten letter, written in Spanish in a cursive script. Translation: “Hello I am Ender and I am 12 years old, I have been at this center  for 2 months. I arrived here for an immigration appointment and I don’t think they should grab immigrants who are innocent, like instead of grabbing criminals because I mean they prefer to lock up children than look for people who really shouldn’t be in the U.S. They told me I could only be here 21 days but I have already spent more than 60 days waking up eating the same repetitive meals, going outside and that the majority of guards never pay attention to people, eating dinner  always the same as the day before, seeing people cry every day for the same reasons, trying to sleep in that horrible uncomfortable bed, going to the doctor and that the only thing they tell you is to drink more water and the worst thing is that it seems like the water is what makes people sick here…”

When Bad Bunny shouted "God Bless America" followed by a roll call of all the countries in the Americas I legit teared up.

The territory as well as concept of America has always transcended small minded provincialism. Attempts have been made to subdue it, been inherently we are multicultural af ♥️

Everyday Olympics for us normies, but each one gets progressively less hinged:

-perfectly cooking an egg (various events)

-parallel parking

-not saying "I told you so" when I did in fact tell you so

-trimming a dog's nails (not your dog, a dog)

-maintaining poker face while THAT coworker talks

The immigrant shredder we built as a bipartisan exercise in good governance is unfortunately voice-activated, specifically the voice of anyone saying “don’t shred immigrants.” If non-immigrants don’t want to be shredded, they should avoid making the shredder feel bad. I won’t vote to turn it off btw

learned today that renee good had tried to move her family to canada after the election, and when that didn't work they moved to minneapolis because it was somewhere she could see as safe for a queer family.

i think that broke something inside me.
