Are gameplay sections substantially different in subsequent playthroughs?

Finished All 5 Silent Hill f endings. Game is absolutely incredible and despite some sore spots with the combat around the 80% mark it's an absolute triumph and a stellar game. Incredible use of NG+, not just narratively but in using the players experience through that NG+ (and ++ etc).

I think its also funny you can tell this was a game made during/post COVID. Like pandemics in horror games is nothing new, but theres like an added specificity to a lot of docs you find that just 'feel' different than the more vague quarantine stuff in pre COVID media.

I feel like in particular the most common issue is the structure of treating the romantic relationship as basically a reward for the lead (usually a man but in some cases women) reforming some negative character trait. Its classic "love interest as reward for character growth" trope.
