Even though in Mexico I'd been in Montessori and covered algebra in 4th grade...

What happened to me as an immigrant from Mexico to the US is that the first I was here (5th grade), nobody noticed I was brand new and I just got put into a regular class and everyone just thought I was "quiet", not you know... learning English.
