I like Robert Longo's "Johnny Mnemonic" and Danny Boyle's "Sunshine."

I wish Andre Norton books were back on the shelves. Her work is what started me reading science fiction. Also, while dated, they don't date as much as Asimov and the other "hard sci-fi" writers.
I'd recommend them to anyone.
