I read a scary story book at a similar age where a group of students on a field trip finds a weird algae that turns them all into swamp monsters, and I think about it almost every time I'm out doing fieldwork in a bog or wherever.

In 7th grade, that was one of the required books we had to read aloud as a class. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. All of us were crying our eyes out. If that wasn’t bad enough, our teacher played the movie in class after we finished the book. 😭😭 #childhoodtrama 😂
