For those of you who don't know, I'm on extended sick leave with an infected kidney, which is going to be removed as soon as I get a date for surgery (thankfully it's keyhole so less invasive). I'm at home with two drains sticking out of me, but today my belt/pouch came from amazon. Yeah, mobility!

My mother has stage 4 lung cancer, that has lead to the collapse of her left lung. Her oncologist team is working out a treatment regime for her at the moment.

She doesn't seem too worried about it though, keeping active, pottering around the garden, etc. You really couldn't tell.
She's amazing.

Managed to get the handle down on my carry on suitcase, (it had been stuck for months) so now I don't have to buy a new one! #smallvictories

I just ate a slice of Chinese vanilla sponge cake, and I swear it was like eating a delightfully sugary cloud.

Well....it seems like mum's got a tumour on her lung but when they tried to take samples it started bleeding, and had to stop the bronchoscopy, so now she has to have a more invasive biopsy at UCLH. Which understandably neither of us is looking forward too.

I went through a phase a few years back of buying novelty teapots/teaware from charity shops. Here is my current collection.

She seems to be ok for now, nothing has happened in the last 2 hours. Hopefully nothing does tonight and she can get to her appointment tomorrow. It looks like a long night for both of us, thankfully I have the weekend off.

(12 hours from now) and also hasnt coughed up anything else but phlegm in the last 2 hours, it was decided not to take her to our general hospital. Fingers crossed nothing more happens tonight.

My mother ( who is the middle tests for lung cancer) started coughing up blood earlier, but she's conscious, lucid and mobile. Paramedic came round, did some preliminary tests by which time the bleeding had stopped. Since she is due another test appointment at a different hospital tomorrow
