Stiked to be visiting 'Ole Miss to give a talk on #SnafuEdu! @josheyler.bsky.social, @empittsdonahoe.bsky.social & @liznorell.bsky.social are my awesome hosts.
But I already made a mistake: ordered toast instead of grits for breakfast this morning.

Please do not use AI to grade. If demands on your time are such that you cannot provide students with timely and substantive feedback, that is a labor issue, and you should join your union. open.substack.com/pub/marcwatk...

14.08.2025 01:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Someone once asked me why it took me 11 yrs of higher ed to earn a PhD in English when I could have been a neurosurgeon in roughly the same amount of time. The implication was: it shouldnβt take me that long to learn all those Shakespeare facts. He fundamentally didnβt get what studying lit *was*.
10.08.2025 13:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And this is why βhistorianβ is usually at the top of those dumb lists of professions most vulnerable to AI. Itβs because people donβt understand what historians, or the humanities more broadly, *do*! They think itβs just learning and regurgitating facts!
