Are they going beyond the textbook cuts, being even more cautious than the state has mandated? Zachary: To use the legal term, it's having a chilling effect. You know, people are generally terrified because it's so haphazard. This isn't about targeting the professors that you would expect them to target. It's about the randomness; it's the stochastic nature of this authoritarian project. Every case (except for Charlie Kirk tweets) I can think of of a professor being suspended or threatened for so-called “race or gender ideology” somewhere in the state of Florida has come from a student in the class filming or complaining. They catch it, go directly to a member of the Board of Trustees or the Board of Governors, make it a pet case, and then that person is disciplined. It's not like there's a formal statewide process in which they're evaluating everyone's teaching and deciding, you are the violators of the prohibition on teaching “gender ideology.” Rather, a student will file a complaint, and the Board of Governors or Board of Trustees will demand that the university president suspend the student.

@grundrza.bsky.social is also great on the chilling effect this censorship in Florida is having on classes. The haphazard and random nature of who gets targeted is designed to make everyone terrified.

Once again, his brief contained false citations. And at the August 22, 2025 hearing, Mr. Feldman was unable to respond directly to, much less answer, the Court's questioning about his submissions. Mr. Feldman has not, and apparently cannot, learn from his mistakes. And while the Court does not oppose the use of Al to assist in legal research and writing, it must take a stand where, as here, counsel repeatedly files submissions with false citations because counsel refuses to verify those submissions. This Court can do no more. For the reasons that follow, the Court sanctions Mr. Feldman pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 and the Court's inherent powers by striking Affable's submissions and entering default judgment against it.
