I’ve noticed a handful of students using ChatGPT regularly. Not for assignments, but as a search engine. I’d like to pose a critical thinking question, something like “is there ethical use of AI?”

Does anyone have middle school level articles or resources to help them research this?

There was a certain conversational feel to early Twitter, with low character limits and no QT (or even RT). You had to engage. There were no thesis-length threads. It was “I have a sentence to add here” and there was a natural back and forth. I didn’t think about that until your post here.

Grade 7/8 here - yes, novels. Choice reads, book clubs, and read alouds. I was talking with a colleague yesterday about how we can’t use excerpts to teach broad character development and writer’s craft for large scale themes and plot structures.
