for some reason I never finish Pokémon games so now my rule is that I gotta work through my backlog before I buy any more. besides, it’s probably better for my mental health to appreciate the character designs from afar without getting invested in whether they’ll mess up the new game each time.

I always feel like new starters don’t look right to me when I first see them but then they grow on me over time.

repressed memories are so weird. I assumed having repressed memories was really rare and that most people were exaggerating when they talked about them but then recently some conversation triggered my memory and suddenly I regained access to some upsetting repressed memories from elementary school.

I heard this event was going to be Barrel-Blast-themed so I’m pleasantly surprised that there aren’t rocket-belts blocking our view of these new models!

I’d still like to see the rocket-belts added to Mario Kart World’s rumored DK expansion though, they’d be like the hoverboards in Crossworlds.

I had a really wacky City Trial today! first, I assembled the Dragoon and used it to get to a Hydra on a floating island. then the elusive Halberd showed up and I even managed to snag the All stat despite how difficult it was to maneuver the Hydra precisely. finally, I assembled Leo.

two times today I had offline rounds of City Trial with three legendary machines in play! the first time there were Dragoon parts scattered around, a wild Leo appeared, and a Hydra was on a floating island. the second time there were Dragoon parts and Hydra parts and Gigantes parts scattered around.

had a strange encounter with a ghost mimic guy but so far I’m not noticing any _roblems

it bothers me to no end that the guy who was literally designed to be Mario’s rival never even gets to be in the same game as Mario except for spinoff rosters. they got to throw hands once in SML2 and they got to work together once in 64 DS before Wario became permanently confined to his own series.

I like owning games rather than paying subscriptions but the cynical part of me thinks they did it like this just so they could remove NSO features like save states and rewind. Pokémon are part of an economy where they gotta keep certain ones rare enough that you buy DLCs for the games to get them.

it’s a shame too. the game was predatory from the start but its good parts used to shine through a bit. I liked the game enough that it made me a Hoopa fan. surely using this game to create long-term love of the characters and brand would be smarter than draining wallets as aggressively as possible.
