Rain moving into Northwest tonight and a damp to wet start Tuesday morning for many as rain slowly moves Southeast. Brighter weather following with sunshine for the afternoon in Northwest. Nice settled dry spell taking over then for possibly 10 days or more!

A glorious Monday morning over Tullow and a pretty good week ahead. Some showers today and bad of rain crossing country tomorrow but less than 5mm for most areas and then very little rain for following 7 days as high pressure takes hold. Nice boring weather 😁

ESB power outages down to 2,200 premises. Fair play to ESB after a very busy weekend. A tough 3rd night ahead for those still out though.

Lovely Sunday morning for most and some nice settled weather to come but a few showers today and Tuesday will be dull damp day but after that it is high pressure in control.

A much calmer night out there and nice sunrise ahead for Sunday morning.

The good news is high pressure is coming, apart from some rain crossing country Tuesday there will be very little rain for next week and should hold for next weekend too🙌

Fair play to @ESBNetworks crews down below 50k and they expect majority to have power restored by Sunday night but some smaller faults could go into early next week. Interesting Roscommon is one of the worst areas but it was only added to Orange warning late in the day.

Still very windy but wind slowly easing off over the coming hours. Heavy rain moving South but breaking up. Scattered heavy showers also though with some thunderstorms in Kerry and West Cork at 10:30am. ESB crews working hard and down to 60,000 premises without power.

Well county by county doesn’t work for big counties like Cork

I’ve been saying for years that we need to move to an impact based warning system like the UK Met Office use. The winds we saw yesterday have a much bigger impact this time of year and also when peak of storm is during work day. The Met Éireann system is based on specific thresholds being met.

Wind still gusting to over 100kmh on West coast with heavy rain in Northern areas and also some thunderstorms. Strong winds perishing this morning but rain will break up and sunny spells developing. Still over 80,000 premises without power this morning.

ESB seem to have defaulted most faults to 5pm Saturday for restoring power. That means some will see power back before it but many may not see power until after that. So you may want to prepare for longer outages and don’t rely on that timeline.

5pm and 198,000 premises are without power with top gust of 148kmh at Malin Head in last hour. The sunny spells have reached most areas as the center of #StormAmy moves Northeast of Ireland.

4pm reports show top gust of 130kmh at Malin Head but strong winds right across country. Center of #StormAmy is off the North coast. 150k premises are now without power with a big jump in the number of power outages in last hour.

90,000 premises without power now at 4pm Friday. Given the scale of outages it is likely some will remain without power overnight tonight so please check in on elderly and vulnerable friends and family. Red warning is now active in Donegal.

3pm reports show gusts of 120kmh at Mace Head and Belmullet and Mace Head has sustained winds of 89kmh which is red level winds. Reports from many areas of trees down and also some shed sheeting blown around.

Donegal has now being upgraded to a Red wind warning from 4pm to 6pm. Please heed this warning with risk of severe and damaging gusts. #StormAmy

Listening to Dublin Airport Tower radio and some smaller planes already struggling with wind with go around a diversion. A change in runway likely but @shaunsaviation.com will have better information soon.

Mayo Sailing Club station above Clew Bay reporting gusts of up to 149kmh already. Not an official station and very exposed on coast but interesting.

Friday midday update with over 39mm of rain in West and winds gusting up to 90kmh. #StormAmy is still developing and while rain will clear winds are going increase to some severe gusts.

Latest HAMRONIE charts and ensembles show a little increase in the risk of gusts of over 130kmh on Donegal coast around 5pm today.

The rain from #StormAmy has moved in quickly.

Don’t drive into floods. These photos were taken just 20 minutes apart near Bantry in Cork yesterday. As you can see in the photos during that time, the water levels rose high enough to nearly cover the car.
