When they said "no" Reform rolled all it's tanks onto the lawns and said they'll cut funding to the entire university if they win.

For the first time in an eternity...I've bought a paper, with a TV guide for the week @deshocks.bsky.social

Streaming services, particularly the commercial ones, are walled environments. They aren't good for broadening your horizons.

Also: the re-embrace of linear TV is also part of my realisation that streaming causes you to miss out on the wider world: it's far too self contained. And I think it's creating a bubble for myself that I miss out on discovering new stuff from.

I didn't realize until last night that my TV does actually have a record function (limited to one recording at a time, and you can't switch to another channel). So looking around for options that allows multiple recordings & channel switching..

So, looking at all my broadband options, I note with dismay that the TV options are a) all streaming now; b) are expensive & c) don't really let you record anything. The DVR has gone as an option!

So, am going old school: getting a satellite dish & Saorview plus my own DVR box.
