Whatever we face in life, Lord,
whether good or bad, easy or tough,
happy or sad, pleasant or rough,
we face not alone, but with you,
for you neither leave us
nor forsake us,
come what may.
In all we encounter in life,
and even in death,
your love is our constant.
Our new deacons have been ordained at Wakefield Cathedral today! It was a great service, and we look forward to seeing what they get up to in their new ministry across our diocese. Here are just a few photos from the service, with more to come!

In a world that so often
seems obsessed with
power and profit, Lord,
inspire us to be
builders of peace.
May we be
catalysts for community
and restorers of relationship.
May we wield your wisdom
rather than our
weapons of war,
as we work for
your justice,
your way.
The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
This summer, we are celebrating the 1700th birthday of the Nicene Creed, one of the most enduring statements of Christian faith. 📜

Come, Holy Spirit,
dwell within us and among us;
fill our lives with your peace,
your wisdom, your gifts
and your guidance.
Encourage and enable us
to be the disciples,
and to be the church,
that you call us to be,
that we may shine the light
of your love for all.
At a time when people are understandably focused on the daily chaos in Washington, these articles describe the rapidly accelerating impact that AI is going to have on jobs, the economy, and how we live.

Divert us, Lord,
from the temptation
to pursue our own interests
at the expense of others,
to live our lives
by greed for selfish gain.
Let us instead
seek the common good,
pursuing peace,
offering kindness,
living out your love,
recognising all
as our neighbours.
