I’m pleased to say that I have been invited to become a member of the College of Archbishops’ Evangelists. I have yet to work out what that means but I have been doing the work for 39 years so something must be right.

Congratulations to our ordinand, Dr Edmund Smith, who completed his PhD thesis on Hegel earlier this year (on top of his theological and formational studies here)! Edmund is to be ordained this summer and will serve his title in 14 rural parishes in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ispwich.

An utter disgrace! We must be honest and true. He stands alone. We stand with Ukraine. Threaten us or bully us if you will but we must always stand on the side of the victim. It is clear that he does not care about lives. He only cares about money, minerals. You cannot worship two gods!

I no longer want anything to do with America. The President abs Vice-President are a disgrace.

Having a wonderful conversation about projects to end people trafficking with a woman who is on her way to give a presentation in London. Something little spoken of but damaging to many, many lives.

How long until a General Strike in the US?

It is worrying that so many people who believe untruths are happy not to listen to mainstream media because they believe that it is that platform that pours out lies. Instead, they accept the lie that the truth is a lie and stop questioning everything. If you stop thinking, you believe anything.

Can we just stop calling him the ‘leader of the free world’? It simply isn't true. It would be a better world if we told the truth and stood up to lies and distorted realities.

Letter from Bishop of London to The Guardian: Kim Leadbeater’s proposed amendment to the assisted dying bill has filled me and many others with grave concern. Leadbeater has described the bill as the “most robust piece of legislation on this issue in the world”. However, the removal of judicial oversight significantly weakens the safeguards, raising concerns about what other measures may be dropped through the legislative process or through the interpretation of clinicians. While it will be essential to involve multidisciplinary teams if the law is changed, this need not have come at the expense of judicial oversight. While we do not yet know who will be appointed to the proposed expert panels, concerns have already been raised that there will inevitably be a self-selection bias to the voluntary assisted dying commission. My background as a nurse and as a priest tells me that the best safeguard is the current law. I urge parliament to reject this bill. It is neither safe nor compassionate. Instead, we should be focusing on providing the best possible palliative care services. Dying people should be offered hope, not fear.
