Full disclosure, I had One More Step as the second hymn at my wedding nearly 25 years ago. Everyone knew it, everyone sung it with joy, and I have zero regrets!

As I contemplate a sermon about prayer, I'm reminded of Mother Mary Clare, Reverend Mother of the Sisters of the Love of God in Oxford

She advised that the nuns were struggling to find words to pray, they could simply say

'Here I am God, what a mess'

I've used that advice a lot over the years

It was utterly joyous

Sung with such gusto by everyone, with huge grins on their faces

And this is why I simply won't allow any shade to be thrown in its direction

Sometimes you go somewhere where the presence of the Holy Spirit is just so abundant. This afternoon I had the honour of preaching and presiding at The Village Church, and it was such a beautiful place to be. A church where all were absolutely welcome & where all could feel safe
