I think a decent proxy for a power ranking (discounting strength of schedule) would be future point projection (or ppg projection)

Would decouple past obtained points from model projections (which also gives a better explanation for the early season phenomenon of winning but proj points going down)

nerf dodge-tanking strats where < 50% displayed prob would be pushed to 0. They started making it so > 50% still follows (approx) the triangular 2RN probs, while < 50% follow the displayed probability faithfully. Players don't get angry for missing their "guaranteed" hits, but can't abuse dodging

Fire Emblem has manipulated probabilities: for most games, they roll two RNs (0-99) and check the probability vs the mean, which follows a triangular dist. Since the player usually has > 50% displayed prob, it benefits the player by raising true prob.

First playthrough, so no basis for comparison, but just checked the notes for the update and some features in it are very much appreciated (mistery locks+combo points remaining after battle), I imagine the game would be worse (still good) without them
