๐ช๐บ The European Movement is now on Bluesky!
As the largest pan-European network promoting democracy, solidarity, and inclusion, we connect citizens, organizations, and policymakers to shape a stronger continent.
Follow us for everything Europe and beyond! ๐
focus on why change is neededโand how it can make things better for everyone.
and together with a huge dose of patience, let's continue putting a fight for the values that ultimately matter.
real change starts with listening and finding common ground.
don't defend the status quo, or the institutions, but definitely do defend values.
freedom. democracy. diversity. collaboration.
because institutions can fail (and are failing), but values can unite.
pause. listen. show empathy.
focus on understanding, not just winning the argument.
be humble. be respectful. donโt humiliate.
itโs not about proving you know more, that time will vindicate you, or that others are foolish for not agreeing with you
and if they canโt, then the other person must be dumb, not worth following, not worth talking to.
and so, polarisation grows.
but changing minds doesnโt work like that.
pro or anti-trump, everyone wants to win the argument, to feel validated.
(and i put myself first there)
people want to end the discussion with themselves on topโbeing more knowledgeable, more socially committed, more pure in their intentions.
since trump's inauguration, every conversation i've hadโwhether with family or friendsโstarts from a place of raw emotion.
excitement, triumph, and relief on one side;
anger, frustration, and anxiety on the other.

PS: No lawmakers

is it politically motivated? absolutely.
is it a risky move that could backfire in europe? most likely.
but hereโs the thing: itโs a normal business decisionโadapt, acknowledge, propose.
now itโs up to shareholders and users to decide if they continue supporting this direction.
a ceo...
...addressing a global regulatory concern that has worsened in the last few years, despite the measures that have been taken.
...acknowledging what hasnโt worked (the fact-checking system)
...being transparent about the trade-offs
...and offering a new solution
but also...

these are good times to be in political opposition in a developed country, and the trend will continue probably in germany, spain, and, worryingly, france?
