I put our vacuum cleaner up on OLX (Poland's Craigslist, basically), and roughly half of the messages are in Russian, Ukrainian, or a mix of Polish and these languages.

🇵🇱🇺🇦🇷🇺 Looking back at my high school, if somebody told me at the end of it that my 2 years of torturous learning Russian were not a pointless exercise but a vital learning experience that would arm me with the ability to read Cyrillic and thus function more easily in 2025 Poland, I'd laugh a lot.

Second leg of the journey: Koleje Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian Railways) regional train to Świdnica, running on a line that was recently restored after being shut down in 2000, with me stepping out in the tourist town of Sobótka. A triumph of Poland slowly returning to the rail.

🚂 Wrocław Główny railway station, getting only prettier with the age, as aggressive ads are removed and businesses are forced to advertise in a non-obtrusive manner. 4/

Strategic choice of a recently refurbished 2nd class carriage right next to the WARS dining car. It's a "return from a very bad seaside vacation ruined by Poland living in a vortex of rain for the last month" train, so I expect adventures. 2/
