I've been climbing Munros for about 40 years, and many of them I've done scores of times through work, but there are about 80 of them I've not done, give or take a few.
07.08.2025 17:21 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A fine day of sunshine, showers, gale force winds and bog. Actually mostly bog. Great fun with Sharon Kennedy on Carn Dearg above Newtonmore, and a new Munro for me (Sharon did it solo a couple of winters ago).

The Power and the Glory.
Just driven up to the Highlands.

Resharing this old piece for a new audience. Guinness World Records is losing credibility in adventure sports - awarding dubious records, demoting trailblazers like Messner, and pushing commercial stunts over real feats.

What matter the risk to all wild birds when it's up against a small minority who like to shoot pheasants? Selfishness & abhorrent 'sport' gone mad.
02.08.2025 10:50 β π 43 π 15 π¬ 3 π 0It's so good being a part of a climber's progression. Today it was up into the mountains where clients Alison led all pitches of the classic Corvus on Raven Crag. A brilliant day out.

Only @sharonkennedy.bsky.social has had a chance to wear hers so far (lucky girl! π€£π€£π€£), but I think they look great.
Thanks to Catstycam for supplying them and Coniston Corporate for the branding.

Another one for the "Watching Wildlife Without Going Wildlife Watching" series. I think this lovely plant is Enchanter's Nightshade.

In the garden a Phasia hemiptera paid a visit. These Tachinid flies are sexually dimorphic, and also endoparasitic, laying their eggs on hosts such as Forest Bugs and Green Shieldbugs. The larvae then grow inside the host, slowly devouring them!
