Why would anyone outsource (multi)-million dollar decisions to a commercial journal. This is as true at HHMI as at all departments making tenure-track hiring decisions right now. Just don't.

In the UK, @wellcometrust.bsky.social also really walk the walk here. They actively discourage people discussing where papers were published during selection processes, and (at least at early career stages) don’t discriminate against candidates with preprints versus peer-reviewed publications
