Two baby birds that are mostly feathered, except for their bald heads. They are in a fabric nest. One is shouting for food, which is activity they engage in approximately every 5 minutes.
Please enjoy my ugly gremlin babies. They are Noisy Friarbirds so this look isnβt really going to get much better. #ausbirds #wildliferehab

A bird with a chest back, white belly and black-capped head. It has a yellow eye and black bill, and it looks slightly alarmed. It is standing amongst reeds and other pond vegetation.
Nankeen Night-Heron showed up on our dam last week, which was very nice of since I got to record it in my #AussieBirdCount surveys. Doesnβt like having its photo taken, but I finally got it! #ausbirds

A cardboard box with a hole cut in the bottom. A childβs nose and glasses are visible peeking through the hole. On top of the box is a brown cuckoo-dove, and another stands in front of the box. Occasionally the doves slap each other (not pictured) which is hilarious, according to the box-dwellers.
My children have set up a box from which to spy on the brown cuckoo-doves. The cuckoo-doves are suspicious of the giggling box but not enough to pass up the offer of seeds.

A Lathamβs Snipe, that is, by some miracle, not flying away so the only picture I get is a vague brown blur. It is wading through a grassy bit of wetland. Not pictured: the other four Lathamβs Snipes I saw today, who all bailed out before Iβd even lifted the camera.
Succeeded at my Snipe hunt today β

It started pouring with rain on our walk yesterday. Anyway fun fact turns out pelicans drink rainwater by just sitting there with their bills open. They even moved to align themselves with the direction the rain was coming in. So that's cool. #ausbirds #wildoz #pelican

A small parrot walking through the grass. He has a green head, yellow belly, turquoise wings and a barely visible red rump.
He does! Though personally I think a better name could have been chosen, since you don't see the red rump from most angles. (And the poor female gets saddled with a name for a feature she doesn't have.)
