Ah cool- I may be at EGU next year, I haven't planned that far ahead yet!

My only context for AGU is a geology conference, and I will be at a different one in the UK- I'm guessing there's other AGU's I don't know about 😅

It was a VERY rough cardboard form, filled with more card and tin foil; most of the detail was done freehand with the bone scraper, amd sculpting over the first layer

ooh nice! I was trying to do mine in one piece as much as possible, and opted for a two layer design partly because I didn't have the time and resources to do a detailed mouldr- I'll fish out the picture for the mould I used for the basic shape in a minute, it was very bodge 😅

A work in progress textile-based pony hood. It has masking tape over half its face with pattern markings drawn on it.

That is such a good way to extract a 2d pattern from the 3d mask, I wish I'd thought of it when I was working on one a few weeks ago!

How do you feel about jiggy finish folk metal? Korpiklaani have a mix of folky and part stuff! Sonata arctica have some great Scandi power metal, half their stuff is on YouTube throw over wolf's rain clips (one of only two animes I've seen and fit that reason)- Stratovarius also good in power metal

I'd really like to mirror @chipthepony.bsky.social's post yesterday- finally opening up to pony play after so many years has been the post free and comfortable I've ever felt in myself- I had to leave Hoof it! early, but that led to me telling some close friends exactly what I'd been doing!

I got to try out my new gear at Hoof It! last weekend, my second pony event and first time really connecting to my inner pony! I can't thank everyone enough for being so welcoming and supportive of a nervous horse

I didn't think to ask for photos, so I had a little trip p the hill yesterday!

I may give it another go in a bit, possible it was a technical issue

Most likely, I tried two debit cards and both failed- I might give it another go, otherwise it's either go and get a credit card I don't want or wait until I get paid and go for a VPN- for now I'm cut off

My main barrier is never having bothered with a credit card- it won't accept debit, and I'm not a fan of having to face scan everywhere

I think you've just summed up how I've been feeling lately, I've been interested all my life but only opened up and dove in the last couple of months!

Bottom jaw finished and dyed, and it's most likely my last craft night before next weekend so I've made do with a temporary strap and a mane made from a sheepskin offcut for now. There is much burnishing to do at some point.

I've got most of the final layer onto my horse mask, minus the bottom jaw- I got impatient and did the first coat of dye when I should have gone to bed, then remembered I haven't sorted out an ear attachment yet- I also made some bigger ears, but they're too big now...

I've been building up the sections of my mask that need a bit of extra shaping, while the glue is drying I figured I'd see if I could figure out how to do veins and ended up with some cthulu offcuts

That's the ears made and jaw on- although I'm not sure if the ears should be larger or the mouth longer- it's quite a long head...

Anyway, I need sleep- goodnight

Two nights in a row with a little time for crafts- cutting the excess and the eyes has made a big difference- even got the top lips shaped and had juuuust enough leather left to link the chin (weirdly, but again; getting covered).

He needs ears and a jaw now...

Finally had another chance to work on my mask for a couple of hours, and git as far as trimming and stitching the nose- I may need to work on my butt-stitch before I get as far as the outer layer!

Ponies with masks! Question for you- do you eyes actually line up with the eye holes to look forward, or are you looking a bit sideways for the sake of the horsey aesthetics? 😆
I'll probably try to move the eyes to the centre a little, ultimately another thin sheet of leather will cover this

I've been pottering about with a couple of prototyping craft projects- namely thinking about designs for a set of fairly stiff leather hooves, and taking up leather sculpting for a mask- I suspect I've put the eyes too far apart to be functional
