Bought this German Blu-ray of Scream thinking it would be the full-version but it turned out to be the same r-rated one that's out in the US, UK and worldwide streaming but I hadn't seen the film in over 20 years and I absolutely loved it all over again. I even jumped a couple of times. #HorrorSky

As well as having an admirer in Christopher Lee the Jack Palance Dracula was also the basis for the appearance of Dracula in the Marvel Tomb of Dracula series. #HorrorSky #Dracula #HorrorMovies ... ๐Ÿง›๐Ÿฆ‡ ... The actor wanted to play Dracula because of Bela Lugosi ...

I thought about picking it up for pennies but he looks so insipid I just couldn't be bothered. I'm sure he's far better than the awful Marc Warren Dracula tho. He's the worst of the lot IMO.

After having it on my "To Watch" pile for almost 2 decades I finally got around to Kill, Baby... Kill! (1966) from the great Mario Bava at the weekend and my fudging goodness is was so incredibly lovely .. I adored it .. The most Gothic film I'd seen since Mark of the Vampire (1935) .. #HorrorSky

Of all the #Horror stars who complained about being trapped in the genre Christopher Lee & John Carradine were the most vocal. As much as I โค๏ธ Christopher Lee only John Carradine had any real right to moan as his career was going places until he started accepting horror roles. Lee had done nothing.

#ThrowbackThursday ... As BBC4 are showing the superior #Horror double-bill of The Wicker Man and Don't Look Down tonight today's throwback being the original BBC horror double-bill from 1977 which would become a regular season for BBC2 ...

Had a Don Sharp double-bill with Kiss of the Vampire and Witchcraft as my films of choice and it's incredible to think before Kiss he'd never even seen a #Horror film so to prepare he screened a few from the #HammerHoror studio. My goodness talk about being a fast learner. A brilliant director. ๐Ÿฆ‡

Over the weekend I re-watched & revaluated 2 #HammerHorror films my younger self had dismissed as plodding and dull: The Reptile and Phantom of the Opera. Phantom is really very lovely but not a #Horror film. The Reptile is talky but also super compelling. Both are excellent. But not for a kid. ๐Ÿฆ‡

My current #Gaming obsession is building up the marvellous Classic Skarlet on #MortalKombat mobile ... She's a wonderful character to play as and certainly one #Horror lovers will enjoy with her gory, bloody moves ... A great addition to the title ... ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ ... ๐ŸŽฎ ... ... ...

When it comes to films by former greats in decline I'd take Dario Argento's Dracula over John Carpenter's Vampires every time. At least that film is recognizable from the same hand that brought us several genre classics whereas Vampires is a dull, repetitive mess that's so badly written & acted too.

Last night I had a wonderfully bonkers Bela Lugosi Monogram double-bill re-watch with The Corpse Vanishes and Black Dragons ... Both huge fun and despite being down in the dumps poverty row productions they were influential ... Bela was a star for Monogram with many varied roles there ... #HorrorSky

#WerewolfWednesday: Licรกntropo. (1996) ... Easily the best of the Paul Naschy Daninsky movies ... Stylish, very nicely acted with some really lovely moments ... The effective make-up inspired by WereWolf of London ... Shame the series didn't end on this high ... I have the Spanish DVD ... #HorrorSky

With recent #Horror re-watches zombies have been my monster of choice with viewings of the Romero universe + Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things and Living Dead at Manchester Morgue but now I fancy a different movie that I've never seen with Pete Walker's Frightmare calling me for attention. ๐ŸงŸ

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒ•

The Werewolf vs. The Vampire Woman. (1970)

Direct sequel to Fury of the Wolf Man has Waldemar Daninsky brought back to life after the silver bullets fired in the previous film are removed by doctors. Easily the best movie Naschy made with the dull Leรณn Klimovsky. #HorrorSky

#WereWolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒ• The Wolf Man (2010) Another Universal remake this was made with genuine affection for the subject but plagued with all kinds production troubles and followed by unfairly harsh reviews. Not perfect but it's perfectly enjoyable genre entertainment intended as a series. #HorrorSky

Day of the Dead (1985) and Land of the Dead (2005) were my 2 #Horror re-watches over the weekend as I'm revisiting the George A. Romero zombie universe and it remains the most brutal and intelligent place that's served the genre in it's long cinematic history. Truly outstanding stuff. #HorrorSky

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒ• The Mad Monster. (1942) ... George Zucco continues his #Horror sideline away from smaller roles in the majors and turns dear old Glenn Strange into a rampaging werewolf in this creepy PRC Wolf Man wannabe ... It's great fun for any open-minded genre fan ... #HorrorSky ...

#Horror re-watches over the weekend:

The Mummy. (1932)

Werewolf of London. (1935)

Dawn of the Dead. (1978)

The most I've enjoyed The Mummy, previously I'd considered it an overrated bore, but now I get it. The Werewolf of London is incredibly underrated IMO. Dawn of the Dead is sheer perfection.

#MondayMonster: Nosferatu/Count Dracula. Nosferatu. (1979) ... This 1st remake of the silent masterpiece officially has the names of the Stoker characters which the original had to avoid ... This visually magnificent film is complimented by a hauntingly beautiful score ... Dreamlike and Gothic ...

House of Dracula. (1945) .. If there's a #Horror movie from the vintage era that deserves more love from fans then it's this one .. A good script with a committed cast and a genuine creepy feel makes it a little gem for me .. John Carradine is simply magnificent as Dracula .. #HorrorSky ..

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒ•: Howling VI: The Freaks. (1991) .. A massively improved follow-up which absolutely wipes the floor with all the previous abysmal sequels .. This franchise went into an immediate decline after such a powerful first instalment .. Howling VII: New Moon Rising is appallingly bad ..

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒ• Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). Lon Chaney Jr is absolutely brilliant here, even topping his iconic performance from The Wolf Man (1941). The rest of the cast are excellent too with Bela Lugosi's performance as the Monster making sense when aware of the cuts. #HorrorSky

Waxwork 2: Lost in Time. (1992) Massively improved sequel to Waxwork. Written and directed by Anthony Hickox who was a genuine #Horror fan himself and it truly shows here with some delightful references to the classics. Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat and Hellraiser 3 from Hickox are great too. ๐Ÿฆ‡

Dracula. (1979) My personal favourite of the many versions of the famous novel. Like the 1931 film(s) it's based on the stage version with the Lucy and Mina name swap. I think it has the best cast with many wonderful turns. Beautifully Gothic. A wonderful John Williams score. ๐Ÿ’œ #HorrorSky ๐Ÿฆ‡

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ: La Casa del Terror. (1960) Lon Chaney Jr recreates his two most famous Universal Monster roles ~ One he loved, the other he despised. After a pretty decent 1950s which found Chaney Jr appearing in a number of classic Westerns the 1960s weren't so good for him. #HorrorSky

#MondayMonster: Kharis. (Universal) ... Lon Chaney Jr played Kharis in 3 of his 4 movies and thought audiences where crazy for paying their money to watch Mummy films but the character had a loyal following and has been referenced multiple times by genre fans turned writers/directors ... #HorrorSky

#WerewolfWednesday ๐Ÿบ: The Beast and the Magic Sword. (1983) Despite being a good werewolf movie The Craving was a huge box office flop in Spain which almost sent Naschy's production company bankrupt but thankfully he was able to secure Japanese backing for this good-looking adventure. #HorrorSky
