I’d add: biomarkers can exclude a % of us who will get kicked out of diagnoses or trials. I have clinical definition of NMO, a rare neurological illness for which I lack biomarkers & can’t be in its med trials and fear insurance may mess with me if I need the $$$ treatment. Luckily in remission.

Also this, on biomarkers not being the magic bullet for #LongCOVID and other #IACC:

“finding biomarkers is a long, complicated process — and even if we get that perfect, singular biomarker to diagnose Long COVID or #MCAS, it fundamentally still would not capture the experience of the illness.”

I love this. Even though it’s terrifyingly true:

“Chronically ill people do not have the luxury to turn away from our internal, unnameable sensations — we are always at odds with that weighty linguistic gap — and sometimes it feels worse than illness itself.”

In addition to caving to #Trump, @columbiauniversity.bsky.social -- which costs almost $100K a year to attend yet pays its graduate student instructors the least among peer schools -- is firing many grad instructors (while ostensibly negotiating their contracts) and hiring scabs.
