China is winning the trade war. The Trump team helped them.
Per the @wsj.com, the reason China massively escalated in the last 36 hours is because it believes Trump will fold - just as he did on magnets - without reaching for any US leverage in response.

When I was at the NSC, ONA produced some of the best analysis anywhere in the USG and had enormous and even historic policy impact. No other institution presently can do what it did.
Ending it is another unforced error.
The destruction of DOD’s Office Net Assessment will be celebrated in Beijing & Moscow.
This little-known but enormously consequential 50 year-old institution actually thought long-term.
It helped us win the Cold War, grasped the China challenge early, and figured out revolutions in warfare.
