[4] If we want to move towards evidence-based therapy and meet patient needs in follow-up care, it is imperative that standardised assessment protocols are developed in order to strengthen comparability across studies. Studies with more homogeneous patient cohorts are also needed.

[3] In general, kinematic speech outcomes were related to tumour size (more typical outcomes for smaller tumours) and location (movement was most affected at the place of resection), but studies showed great variation in populations and assessment techniques.

[2] We reviewed 29 papers with a total of 197 individuals treated for O&OSCC. Global changes included reduced or less complex, and more asymmetric kinematic patterns following treatment. Local changes included general problems with tongue tip raising/fronting, and curling the tongue backwards.
