I was asking myself the same question.

The right wing (MAGA style) Salvini in Italy is suggesting to forbid the strike on Friday, but there is too much pressure on the government and it's no longer an issue right vs. left, many on the right are asking Meloni to be more active. You're right, it feels different.

Meloni is now suggesting that the flotilla may lead to the failure of the ceasefire, as if there was one in place. The reality is that she's under a lot of pressure, should something happen to the flotilla, she may have to (unwillingly) take action so much is the popular support for Gaza now.

I'm curious to see what happen to the flotilla, here in the US there is not much talk, but in Europe is front page, and an attack by Israel could bring more pressure, including the exclusion from UEFA (soccer is not mundane and almost more important to many Israelis than Gaza.)
