It's annoying how easy to use @home-assistant.io is. I've spent years building custom configuration tools, async orchestration platforms, and update automation, and then HA just, like, does it with zero effort. Fully amazing tool, can't believe I haven't been using it longer.

there is a very broad contingent of affluent folks across the center right who are DESPERATE to pretend that good faith progressive reform isn't THE solution to authoritarianism because they're scared of trans people and taxes, and we should continue to tell those folks to go fuck themselves

A moment of genuine positivity tonight. Nothing short of total victory for progressive platforms across the country.

It's a good reminder that while Trump's party might be comically evil, they're also deeply unpopular.

really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt

De Blasio: β€˜Well, Well, Well, Not So Easy To Find A Mayor That Doesn’t Suck Shit, Huh?’ NEW YORKβ€”Clucking his tongue with mock disappointment, Bill De Blasio announced to New Yorkers that β€œIt’s not so easy to find a mayor that doesn’t suck shit after all, huh?” during a press conference ...

Everyone, tonight might be the last night for quite awhile that we get any mileage out of this @theonion.com headline. We should enjoy it while it lasts. theonion.com/de-blasio-we...

If you have a local election tomorrow (CT, that's you too), remember to vote if you haven't already!

My favorite is when there's a left turn lane where the stop line is further back from the other lanes but Mr. Oblivious lines himself up with the people going straight and then doesn't trip the sensor so he doesn't get an arrow.

Noticing things is a superpower and I encourage more people to use it.

I can't think of a single other time that an ostensible engineering productivity tool has needed to be forced into adoption like this so widely across the industry. It's like if everybody were mandating Git or Kubernetes uptake as part of performance reviews.

The DEA said they arrested 171 β€˜high ranking’ Sinaloa Cartel members. A Spotlight investigation found that’s not true. - The Boston Globe A Globe investigation found that the federal agency misrepresented the stature of its targets, claiming cartel ties at a time when the Trump administration is taking lethal military action against such groups.

A US Drug Enforcement Administration agent said the DEA made β€œhigh-level arrests” of 171 Sinaloa Cartel members across New England in August.

A Globe investigation found that many of the DEA’s targets were addicts, low-level dealers, shoplifters, and homeless people.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
