The family members of Dil Jan Baloch and Naseeb Ullah Badini are protesting for the safe recovery of their loved ones, as state violence and genocide intensify on a daily basis. Genocide and oppression are escalating with an increasing number of killings. Yesterday, Abdul Gaffar Baloch, a fisherman, was shot dead by the Coast Guard paramilitary forces. And destroyed their fishing boat. Naseeb Ullah was forcibly disappeared from Nushki on November 24, 2014. Upon the completion of a decade since his disappearance, his family organized a protest and established a sit-in camp at the Quetta Press Club. The family has been tirelessly campaigning for his safe recovery, utilizing every available platform. They also participated in the recent march against Baloch genocide. However, the state continues to remain indifferent to their pleas. Meanwhile, the family members of Dil Jan Baloch, who was abducted on June 22, 2024, have been staging a sit-in protest for more than a week in Awaran. Instead of addressing their legitimate demands for the safe recovery of Dil Jan, paramilitary forces and the district administration have reportedly been harassing the family to abandon their protest. Previously, the family staged a three-day protest in Awaran. The district administration assured them that Dil Jan would be released if they called off their protest. Trusting these assurances, the family ended their protest. Tragically, the authorities failed to fulfill their promise, and Dil Jan remains missing. #StopBalochGenocide

What we see today is not new, but the continuation of decades old policies designed to oppress the Baloch people, exploit their resources and perpetuate their genocide. These actions are carried out under the pretense of national security, but their real purpose is to maintain dominance and deny the people of Balochistan their rightful say over their land and future. Balochistan, a region long scarred by violence, now faces yet another wave of brutal military operations. For decades, the Baloch people have endured unimaginable horrors of enforced disappearances, mutilated dead bodies, extrajudicial killings, and the systematic erasure of entire communities. These policies have already crippled the region, and this latest operation promises only more of the same, but on an even harsher scale. A whole generation risks being destroyed not just through the violence inflicted by the state but by the loss of opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive. Children are being raised in a landscape of fear and insecurity, while the youth, robbed of education and livelihoods, are left with little choice but to resist. Entire communities are paralyzed, caught in an endless cycle of poverty, grief, climate catastrophes, and survival. This is not just a military operation; it is an attack on the very existence of the Baloch nation.
