In skipper butterflies, the evolution of iridescence and "wing tails" comes together with particular changes in the size and shape of their two wing pairs. This points to evolutionary trade-offs between flight performance and antipredator defences

A milestone for our lab: Daniel Linke is our first PhD graduate! 🦋🥳
Over 4 years, he studied the evolution of antipredator defences in skipper butterflies, combining experiments in the lab and field in Peru.
