I think the games industry has been slow to adopt AI. But it feels inevitable that it'll happen.

Gen AI is an emerging technology, so imo it's not fair to compare it to mature games. Think about how primitive the earliest 3D and online games were. AI is improving at an even faster rate than those did when they were new.

"play pattern" is just a games industry term. You can just as easily say it'll enable new genres as well as revitalize old ones
