For example I am a RWBY fan (stay with me here) and one of the largest complaints of the series is that it completely fumbled Adam one of its main villians early on. Ive read like a LOT fanfics with a laser focus on righting the wrongs of the canon and the result almost always was a novel critique-

Isnt it possible to appreciate some parts of canon and want to fix others? Some of the best fan works ive read have had yeah an appreciate for some parts of the canon but open dislike for others. And the way they attempt to "fix" it is novel and explores some underutilized parts of the og story.

Im yapping a lot here but I genuinely love max and his work and I think its a shame people dont see what I see when he cuts promos. Hes so good at projecting a strong masculine figure when hes really just like everyone else. His struggles with his imposter syndrome really speak to me

I dont think every character arc needs to lead to an upward trajectory. Max said when he came back hes done with all the nice stuff he did with Cole because in his eyes it made him weaker. He came out of the storyline more locked into his toxic mindset than before.

I think it being more subtle works better for mjfs character so that when he has moments like that or the Briscoe promo after his wedding he feels much more like a real person instead of just another character. Similar to how ** **** used to work before he went crazy

I can kinda agree but his character dosent really need to progress imo. I really loke that the core of maxwells heel work is that hes very insecure about himself and his place within the company. I really dont think he should change that unless a major arc happens for him.

How do you consume media believing that actors just are what they play? Do you watch something like the boy in the stipped pyajams for example and see David Thewlis as a nazi and just assume he believes everything he says?
