This is a promotion for Adventuress Cup, a fundraiser held on Shilshole Bay in Seattle annually to raise funds for the care and keeping of Adventuress, a 112-year-old gaff-rigged schooner. The race is held this year on April 26 and has a virtual component: You can create your own "ship" and raise money by encouraging friends and family to support you in this endeavor. Adventuress is the platform for education for young folks where they learn about marine science in the Salish Sound region and are introduced to pathways to maritime vocations.

She was built in 1913 in Boothbay, Maine and is now operated by Sound Experience, a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the Puget Sound region. Adventuress serves as the education platform for young people for day programs and week-long overnights exploring environmental science and an introduction to the booming maritime trades.
