Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood movie review (2018) | Roger Ebert The film does a good job of placing all this Tinseltown rutting in the context of Hollywood’s industrial need to keep secrets and maintain squeaky-clean images for its most famous denizens.

"One of the film’s advantages over the book is that it brings in the testimonies of many other peopleβ€”from friends and fellow ex-hustlers to Hollywood historians and insidersβ€”all of whom support Scotty’s veracity while adding additional perspectives." - GC

🎬 Watched the film "Number 24", a Netflix film on the wartime career of Norwegian resistance leader Gunnar Sønsteby. Excellent depiction of life under occupation in #WW2, the issue of collaboration/resistance and the wartime legacy - plus there's a Radiohead track, too.

There are lots of great moments in the film, but it misrepresents the actual social dynamics of lion prides, while the thematic centering of patriarchy and monarchy is not in keeping with progressive values. I enjoyed this article by @erinbiba.bsky.social.
