01.08.2025 08:29 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The shady coordinated attacks on de-extinction critics donโt address the substance of the arguments (they would lose). Instead, they are demonstrably weak ad hominem attacks on qualified people. If the wonderful @toriherridge.bsky.social is not allowed to speak out, who is?
01.08.2025 08:27 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0In far less pleasant news -- it turns out that @devoevomed.bsky.social, @nicrawlencenz.bsky.social & I have all been targets of on-line smear articles, all in reference to our public criticisms of de-extinction.

This received my first ever downvotes and negative comments on Youtube. I doubt that this is a coordinated effort to discredit though, more that it just isn't very good ๐คท 3/3
Well done to those that have been vocal in speaking up. Attempts to silence scientific debate are chilling and hopefully will backfire. 2/3
31.07.2025 13:58 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is eye-poppingly terrifying. The de-extinction debacle of Colossal Biosc. was already highly questionable both in terms of science & sci comm, but it now appears that somebody (?) has been coordinating dodgy hit pieces and feeble attempts to discredit scientists that criticise this 'work' 1/3

30.07.2025 14:53 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There is an ecological part of the story: louder howler monkeys (larger hyoid volume) live in lower population density areas, in which cases a louder voice can travel longer distances and there is less competition with other males (with big testes)
