We want to address recent reports regarding the status of Romero Games. These reports have contained inaccuracies, and we feel it's important to set the record straight.
• The funding for our project was pulled, and our game was canceled.
• Due to confidentiality agreements, we cannot disclose the publisher's identity, though some may infer it from public information.
• As a result, we now have to reassess the entire staffing of our studio.
• Romero Games is not closed, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that it does not come to that. Any suggestion otherwise is factually incorrect. Indeed, we were in the studio today to discuss next steps with the team.
• We've been contacted by several publishers interested in helping us bring the game across the finish line, and we're currently evaluating those opportunities.
We appreciate the outpouring of support and will share further updates as we are able.

I don't think we're ready yet to talk about just how badly game dev teams are ran. AA/A, Indie, Publishing - all of them. The amount of money and energy wasted through bad planning, poor communication and sheer incompetence is staggering.
Games don't need to be this expensive or exhausting to make.

If a game engine actively tries to use its market position to drive its users out of business MORE THAN ONCE, then maybe it’s time to stop using it.
Unity has already shown us what they’re willing to do to make extra cash. I have no idea why anyone would believe they will not try again.

An image used on Netflix extended a portion of existing Arcane art using AI. It has now been removed, with Riot's brand lead calling the use of AI "disrespectful to the incredible artists who worked on the show." bit.ly/3OpCwmo

There's something I need people to understand.
The studio that made this released some numbers. They had to produce 85 minutes of footage to find 15 usable seconds for this ad.
The machine that creates moving images out of nothing has a failure rate of 340:1 and the best 15 seconds... is this.

AAA studios are not willing to take risks as long as the players keep buying big franchises sequels despite the lack of innovation within them. Furthermore, the amount of money involved is too high to fail.
Which is a very sad assessment in a creative industry…
